These coals work just fine, but that’s not the problem. They’re VERY messy…..even though the coals are sealed inside packets of ten, everything is covered in thick, black dust…..the outside of the box itself, the inside of the box, the wrappers, and every time you go to get a coal you invariably end up getting the thick, black dust all over your hands, clothes, and wherever you are lighting the coal. The coals are also quite brittle and they break apart very easily. No matter how careful you are, you WILL get black dust EVERYWHERE and parts of the edges of the discs will break off.
Another problem is that when they light, they spit sparks like mad. Of course you expect some sparks, and out of common sense you should keep lit charcoal in your censer and far away from anything flammable, but these coals are going for a world record or something! I had one lit, sitting in a censer on a table a couple feet away from me, and I had to jump back because sparks were hitting me!
As I said before, these coals work just fine and were they the only quick-lighting charcoal available I wouldn’t complain. However, there is an alternative available that lights just as quickly and stays lit just as long with minimal mess and sparks: Swift-Lite. I wish I hadn’t bought the entire box because now I’m stuck with these things for however long it takes me to burn 100 charcoals.

The title says it all. This product lights almost immediately with a regular lighter and stays burning for well over an hour. It doesn’t break down into pieces as long as you don’t mess with it, so there is very little ashes dropping into the tobacco, and the airflow is maintained. The clouds of smoke are sooo thick if you do it right.

I recently bought a hookah and needed good, but affordable charcoal. Enter Three Kings. While I knew very little about charcoal brands going into this, I took a chance with Three Kings and was not disappointed. They’re very affordable, light quickly, and will last a while.

I love how this sparkles just a tiny bit like a sparkler on the fourth of July when lit. It lights up almost like from within and burns my resin incense like Frankincense, Myrrh and Dragon’s Blood beautifully. Very good quality product.
